The other day I watched this Youtube video. It made revisit a concept I talked about in one of my first posts. You can read that here if you would like. It is about how mind-boggling it is that every second is another moment of our life. Every second holds so much potential to turn into something great, something life altering. However in the blink of an eye, the second is gone. How can something so little have so much potential?
This video made me think of this more. Not only is it amazing that every second, this small amount of time, is a moment in our lives; but the decisions we make in these seconds can affect us forever and completely change our lives. Every second we make decisions that seem meaning less but can mean so much. Which route to take to class, which bus we get on, what time to do something; all these decisions are decisions we make every day that without realizing what the results could be.
What if you take a different route to class and meet your soul mate along the way? What if you take one bus over another and the other bus gets into an accident? What if you decided to look at the paper for job listings instead of tomorrow and find your dream job? All these decision are made in split seconds and some are unconsciously.
This is why we need to strive to make every second count. When you are in class, at work, or in traffic make your seconds count. Find the best us of those seconds even if it is just having a conversation with a stranger; you never know what you might learn. Take every opportunity the second it presents itself because, like in the video, it could be gone the next second. Go after your dreams this second because you do know how many more you have. Don’t wait for tomorrow when you have plenty of seconds today. There are 86,400 seconds in a day. Now stop counting them and start making them count.
